On
Saturday night the heavens opened and many geared up for mopping
and shopping in the belief that play would not commence the
next day.
Not so. The
course drained well and play did get underway with only the bunkers declared G.U.R. Sunday's honours went to Geraldine Treherne & Natasha Antony and
Karen Robinson & Helene Linder on 44 points.
Monday also
brought in two pairs on 44 points - Noelene Ross & Linda Smith and Kay
Gregory & Jean Freeman. The bunkers were back in play and mild sunshine
warmed throughout the day.
Despite the
wind getting up, a whopping 47 points was posted on Tuesday by Sheldene
Geddes & Catherine de Wit who finished 5th overall. The tournament was
won on 128 points by Natasha Anthony & Geraldine Treherne who counted
out Paula Moon & Allyson Thomas.
As is
tradition, the evenings
were 'party time' and on Sunday night
the Southbroom Dance Troupe rocked the Jailhouse with Elvis and
Irene's Fashion Ensemble moon-walked
the latest in golf attire and wetsuits. Michael Jackson, the older and
the younger, put in an appearance to be remembered! You'll
have to take a look at the pics . . .
It was light hearted fun
with a great meal, good singing and plenty of dancing rounding off an enjoyable
evening.
Southbroom did itself proud yet again thanks to the hard
work of the committee, members, staff, and the generosity of the
tournament sponsors. Sincere thanks to you all.
We thank all players
for their support, especially those who travelled long distances. If not before, we look forward to seeing
you all again
in The 2012 Ladies Classic. For a few fond memories,
