We have done
some work on the course this past
week. Reshaping the bunkers on No 1
~ where our goal is to have a
uniform design throughout the golf
course. Our biggest aim is to have
them more consistent, which is not
an easy task at the coast. We have
also enlarged the 11th tee and it
looks great. It should be in play by
early summer.

SIMBITHI
On a personal
note, it is wonderful to be playing
golf again after an 8 week lay off.
My physio, Grace Hughes, has done a
great job on my injured shoulder and
I am swinging well again. The
Southbroom team of Gerald Myers,
Arthur Lee, Stuart Janvier & myself
finished second at the KZN PGA Pro
Am hosted by Simbithi last Monday.
We each won a great Mizuno travel
bag. Simbithi is a course you must
go and play. It is situated just
north of Ballito and the course was
in superb condition for the middle
of winter. I feel Peter Matkovich
has done a great job on the design.
There really are some great golfing
trips to do in South Africa
especially along the KZN coast which
is sprinkled with wonderful courses
all enjoying the good year round
weather.

VILLAGE NEWS
A familiar
face in town!
It
was great to meet Chris Skudder last
week at the Chicken Run Prize Giving
dinner as he enjoyed his extended
holiday here after a hectic schedule
with the 2010 World Cup.
Chris is a
Sports presenter and correspondent
for Sky News. He has made his name
covering football World Cups in USA
(1994), France (1998), Japan (2002)
and Germany (2006, European
Championships in Belgium/Holland
(2000) and Portugal (2004) and
Olympic Games in Greece (2004) and
China (2008), working for both Sky
News and Sky Sports News. He has
followed the England football team
around the world over the past
decade.
Chris was ahead
of the world’s media to report on
the controversial decision for
Germany to host the 2006 World Cup.
Chris has worked at Sky for 17
years. He is an old hand at
presenting sport and voiced the
original commercial trail for the
precursor of the Sky Sports channel
while freelancing as a sports

get him enjoying swinging a golf
club!)
